In school we have been listening to the story “The Gingerbread Man”. If you are not familiar with the story, it is about a cookie who runs, runs, runs! In our curriculum we learn about communities, community workers, maps, the globe, and places around the world. We will be discussing how The Gingerbread Man runs from one place to another in an envelope. One of the ways I would like to teach the children more about maps and places around the world is through a special mail project. You have received a postage paid envelope to address and mail to anyone of your choice!!(The further away the better) Your child has created a Gingerbread Man to place in the envelope, along with a letter explaining who he is and what to do. The envelopes are just about ready to be mailed . In the past we have used Flat Stanley for this project, who traveled to China, England, Egypt, Sweden, Switzerland, and even the White House. He also traveled to the m&m Mars Co. We received over 100 postcards, and several pictures and letters. We even received chop sticks from Japan.
